SKILLS MB Culinary & Baking Competition
KEC is proud of our Pastry Arts and Culinary Arts students who competed in the Manitoba Skills Competition. These students spent hours of their own time honing their skills and perfecting their projects for the contest.
A big congratulations to our two Culinary Arts students Nora Do and Tatiana Briones who had to make a 3-course meal for 2 in 3 ½ hours. Nora and Tatiana prepared Tomato Gazpacho, Chicken Chasseur, and Apple Tarte Tatin. Nora took home first place in her competition, bringing home a Gold Medal. Please wish her well as she continues to practice for the National Competition in Toronto on May 26-30, representing Manitoba.
Also, congratulations to KEC's Pastry Arts students Adam Olivson and Sydney Lewicki, who had to prepare
2 braided Babka breads, Napoleon Pastries, and a decorated cake with the theme of "Niagra Flora" in 5.5 hours. KECs' own Sydney Lewicki took home second place, earning a silver medal and bragging rights as one of Manitoba's top high school bakers.
Excellent effort, hard work, and dedication was displayed from all of our competitors! You are all winners just for taking the risk! - Ms Ainsley LaFleche (Pastry/Culinary Arts Teacher)
